Ballooning at 22 weeks

Okay, so I’ll be on my 23rd week by tomorrow (5th month). For update’s sake and just because I want to write something about my pregnancy, here are some of my random experiences and discoveries about infanticipating:

  • The baby kicks are getting stronger by the day. From tiny butterfly flutters to jolting movements–it’s amazing how something alive is growing in my belly. It also comforts me that I’m not alone and that I can talk to someone just about anything I want to blabber about.
  • My denim jeans have been MIA (missing in action) in my usual casual get-up. Last month, I tweeted how this baby squirms when restricted. But last Sunday, I found my old hipster jeans that I haven’t worn for a while because it’s big—it fits perfectly and the baby did not protest against it. Yay!
  • Have I mentioned the growing belly? :) Oh yes friends, the belly is now showing its round self and is beginning to become a hand magnet. Even I can’t resist touching it. It’s amazing how the baby responds when I caress my tummy, I think the little one may be taking after my love language–touch. *beams*
  • I’ve been having crazy, weird dreams since my 3rd month. Sometimes, I have Tim Burton-like scenes in my subconscious to paranoid reality kind of nightmares. I have quite a few Oscar award-winning dreams that I took note of. Seriously.
  • I have less falling hair now. If you could only see the clamps of hair I lose after taking a shower or when I brush my hair, you’ll be horrified. My husband actually, at one point, had to say something about it because he got tired  having to sweep all the hairs around the house (oh and mind you, our apartment has 3 floors!). Then I read here that it’s normal at this stage. And I thought it was just because I switched to using this organic shampoo.
  • A colleague showed me a brochure after learning that I’m trying to go organic and ended up buying tons of the stuff she sells. It’s the first time I encountered the brand Human Heart Nature and though I skipped the “test the product first” phase, I swear I haven’t had a problem using them. And I find their back label descriptions amusing. :) Below are just some of the products I bought and I’m buying some more!
Hair fall begone! Shampoo and Conditioner tandem is a hit in my scalp!
It helped minimize my facial breakouts. A great help for me since I can't have derma treatments until after pregnancy.
My kili-kili loves this! Better than the chemical-filled deodorants out in the market.
Sweet-smelling belly! I got the Mango one and I kid you not, it will make you want to lick yourself.
  • Compared to my first 15 weeks, I don’t feel tired as much. I can tolerate going up and down the stairs and walking longer  distances than before. This makes my husband happy since I’m less cranky. We can now go out on dates and meet with our friends without having to cut it short because I’m so exhausted.
  • I don’t have a particular food craving (except salivating for Starbucks Toffee Nut Frappe). But I think I crave for my husband more than anything edible. I love kissing and snuggling with him and just pinching him for no reason. Sometimes I hate that I can’t get mad at him for so long because when he flashes me a smile, I melt! Pinaglilihian ko nga ang asawa ko. LOL!
  • People have been telling me that we might be having a boy since I haven’t been dolling up the way I used to. Can they really tell? Well, I just don’t see the need to be all made up when I’m just going to the office and facing the PC all day. Okay, maybe I’ve become lazy. But I do put on some lipstick and blusher, and curl my lashes every now and then when I feel blah.
  • I’m not the only one pregnant in our office. There are four of us and almost  around two to three weeks apart only. Call it a fertile year! :)
  • I love being my mommy’s only daughter. She’s more excited than I am with this baby. Thank God for her because I don’t have to buy maternity clothes–she does all the shopping! What a blessing she is!
  • Since we learned that the baby can recognize sounds around the 4th month, my husband goes music frenzy. We bought sing-along Bible memory verses, downloading classical music and purchasing music CDs! We read Bible stories to the baby right before we pray and sleep. A beautiful bonding time!
  • Baby names! Wow, who knew this can be a tough one? I can’t quite decide what names I like for the baby. Hubby and I both agree that we’ll have two names (a biblical one and another cool and unique name). He already claims that this one’s a boy so he keeps calling it Ezekiel (Old Testament prophet; Hebrew origin; God strengthens/strength of God). If it turns out we’re having a little girl, he wants to name her Ruth (From the Old Testament; Hebrew origin; friend/companion) just because it’s his favorite woman character in the Bible. We’re praying for wisdom…baby naming is a serious business. Haha.
  • We can already know the baby’s gender by now. So yesterday, my doctor requested a CAS (Congenital Anomaly Scan) to check any abnormalities in the baby’s development, and at the same time this can give us a more confirmed gender of the baby. We’re excited!
  • At this stage, I can have long trips! So we’re taking advantage of our friend’s wedding in Boracay this week to relax and just enjoy this time with my husband because when the baby comes, it might take longer for us to hop on another plane ride out of town with just the two of us.
  • Been checking out baby stuff and it’s fun! I’m really serious about being organic so I’m convinced using cloth diapers or lampin than disposable ones. Yes, it may be more inconvenient and more expensive… but in the long run, I may actually save more. And the baby will grow anyway. It’s not like he/she will still be in diapers until 5 years old. I’m preparing my self for potty training already.
  • Baby stuff is wow pricey!
  • I find myself sometimes shifting from excitement to anxiousness about being a parent soon. But I choose to trust the Lord and let Him guide me in raising this child to be a godly offspring that will bring glory to His name.
Actually I have more bullets than these, but this would be enough for now. I didn’t notice how long the list have become, haha. When you’re really expecting a baby, everyday is a milestone and you just can’t help but put a mental note on every one of them. I just praise God his protection and provision for us in preparing for this little one. We can’t wait to see and hold this tiny being squirming in my tummy. A  few more months to go!
