I was supposed to post something here for our anniversary. But in between baby care and filing my resignation letter, I wasn’t able to update this blog. So to make up for this shameless negligence, I posted an album of our anniversary getaway on FB and wrote a lengthy caption about it. I will just copy-paste okay. I promise to come up with a decent update next time *teehee*
We turned one year last May 28! My thoughtful husband planned for us a getaway to a quiet hotel up in San Rafael, Bulacan, which turned out to be a very relaxing day to celebrate our first year anniversary. No hurried up itinerary or whatsoever, just plain chilling out. :D We got the entire hotel to ourselves as if we were royalty. We can literally run around like hyperactive children in the vicinity w/o bothering other guests. Beautiful surrounding, neat rooms and great service from the staff too! Though their restaurant was closed when we were there, they still accommodated my husband’s requests to make a simple dinner of take-out food seem like a fine-dining experience. Su-weeeet! ♥
Everyday, I fall more and more in love with Daniel. It hasn’t been all rosy in our first year, but it was awesome nonetheless. Reminiscing our wedding day, sharing insights about our married life, laughing together, thanking God for our relationship and committing to Him our future plans were just some of my cherished moments of our anniversary. I also feel so blessed to have our little man celebrating it with us. :) Looking back, I can’t be thankful to God enough for every detail in our marriage–it re-affirms our commitment and strengthens us as a couple. I couldn’t imagine a life of purpose had it not been him I’m married to. Because of him, I understand who I am and where I’m supposed to be.
D, you will always be my harbor. :) Thank you for being a loving husband, a good provider, a wonderful companion, a trustworthy friend and a committed spiritual mentor for me and Ziki. I love you very much! And I would marry you again even if storms raged and the ground shook. I bet it would still be an amazing wedding we can tell our children about, hehe. :D Happy anniversary Mahal ko! :* ♥
Let me digress and tell you about Hotel Masfino. I was actually surprised when my husband told me that we will stay in a hotel in San Rafael, Bulacan. I thought, “A hotel in a provincial Bulacan? Baka naman cheap-ipay ito.” But I know hubby won’t make a nightmare out of our first year anniversary so it must be worth it. He showed me pictures of the place from their website and I was really amazed.
We had all these to ourselves!

Hotel Masfino had lush green all around. It is breezy and really serene. It has golf course nearby so that may explain the wind. On one side they have two swimming pools–a regular one and another that has waves. On the other side was the sports area, children’s playground and two huts for their spa. Rooms are satisfactory too. We had to request for an extra mattress for Ate Angelina (our loving yaya–will post about her soon). And though usually they charge you for an extra mattress, Hotel Masfino gave it to us for free.
Note: Bed does not come with a baby. Tee-hee.
I did mention above that their concessionaire was closed but they compensated for the lack of food service by assisting my husband set up a simple, cozy dinner just for two. Since it was in a remote area, I did not expect fancy food, though my husband was creative enough to make it memorable still. And to think he drove more than twenty minutes to the nearest town proper to get them, I feel so special. :)
“Dinner for two, madame.” Husband prepared my all-time favorites! What a sweetheart.
Well, we only stayed there overnight but we had good rest albeit the short stay. I basically stayed in the room except for Ziki’s sun-time and my husband was the only one who enjoyed the pool because I was not allowed to swim yet. But I did have an amazing massage that my husband requested for me in the room.
We really loved our stay here and promised ourselves to come back next time. The travel may seem far getting to Hotel Masfino, but this place is so worth it, especially when you really want it peace and quiet.
To have our first anniversary spent like this: with a darling baby boy, a lovely hotel and a soothing rest—it’s the best celebration for us! I praise God for my husband and the one year we had. It was not all rosy and sweet, but every day was memorable just the same. HAPPY ONE YEAR TO US, MAHAL!
