The Makings of a Book Party – Final Part

This is the last part of the series on Ziki’s Party Planning Edition. If you missed it, here’s how we made invitationswhere we held the party and the DIY details. I shall share with you how we pulled off a simple and enjoyable book party for our little man who just turned one. I will give you tips and recommendations that may also help you coordinate your child’s birthday party.

As much as I would want to DIY Ziki’s birthday all the way, I have not yet mastered some skills that are quite important when there are celebrations like this. I’m talking about baking and cooking for a huge group. With that acknowledgment, I sought suppliers who are good at what they do and took care of the parts I cannot do myself—the 3 C’s.

1. The Cake

I have been a fan of their creations since she posted their first customized cake on Facebook and she also happens to be a schoolmate from Colegio San Agustin-Biñan. So when my husband and I were conceptualizing the cake design, I already had Maitz in mind. Maita Ama is the pretty lady behind the marketing of Custom Cakes by Momma {her mom is the one who bakes and creates the cakes and cupcakes}. It was so easy working with Maitz. I just gave her pegs and explained some other details and she immediately was able to grasp my design and delivered it exactly, if not more. I was so thrilled to see the snapshot of Ziki’s birthday cake before my brother picked it up.

Who would want to eat such an adorable cake? Me! :)

When we finally got to eat the cake, the taste was no less than exceptional. I loved how the marshmallow fondant perfectly matched the moist chocolate cake. The sweetness was just right. Ziki also had a bit of his own cake and he loved it too! I honestly felt sad when we were down to the last slice. Writing this actually made me crave for that cake again! As for the price, it was very reasonable considering the design I gave her. Thanks to Custom Cakes by Momma, my boy {more of me and my husband, actually} got to enjoy the coolest and sumptuous birthday cake that day.

2. The Candy Buffet

Candy buffet is the new trend when it comes to children’s party, so there are quite a number who stood out when I searched for candy buffet suppliers in Metro Manila. Just then a friend posted a photo of a candy buffet setup during her baby’s christening on Facebook and I knew this was it. I immediately sent my friend a message and asked details. She told me about Sweet Nest Candy Buffet and gave me Jaz Distrito’s name and contact number. I liked their fanpage first and sent her a private message to inquire. How she responded sealed it for me.I felt her warm and friendly spirit with every correspondence we have {later on I would learn that she is actually a sister in Christ and that we belong in the same church!}. Jaz was very accommodating with the ideas I throw her way and replied confidently that she can create it. I was so ecstatic to see the mood board she made because she depicted the actual image I had in mind.

When we finally saw the output during the event, we were so happy! It looked so cute but in a boy-kind of way. Actually, our guests went for the candy buffet first before the actual food buffet. I suppose they were that excited about getting their dose of sugar rush. I saw grown-ups pick their favorite sweets alongside giddy kids wanting to get some candies. It was amusing to watch. Too amused in fact, I was not able to devour much from the candy buffet during the party. What’s great about Sweet Nest, they actually provide so much treats that there’s plenty of leftovers for us to take home. Happiness for me! And though on a limited budget, we were able to have this great treat because of their affordable package rates. Go check Sweet Nest Candy Buffet now and add sweetness to your parties!

3. The Catering

A good friend recommended Verleo Catering Services to us and they only have praises for this supplier. We actually tasted their food at their baby’s first birthday and they were surprisingly so good! So, off we went to Verleo’s office {which was very near to where we live} to inquire for their packages. Rio, the agent who assisted us, was very efficient in handling all our queries and requests. Though I wish they offered food tasting, heehee.

Food aside, we also heard positive feedback from friends and read really good online reviews about their waiting staff. And we’ve seen that through out the entire party. The head waiter was very nice and polite. I’m very particular with customer service, so I’m really satisfied with how the waiters assisted us and the guests. You’d expect with good food and competent service their rates are expensive, but actually, their package rates were low-priced that it was just right on budget.

Entirely, I give them 4 stars for their services during Ziki’s party {I’d give them five had they offered food tasting haha}.

Like what I have mentioned over at the TML blog, if you will hire suppliers for your events, get them at good endorsement from credible people or make sure you have done ample research about their services. We’re delighted to have met every one of them in these ways and even more blessed to have built connections with them. They helped make Ziki’s birthday memorable. Truly we are very satisfied customers!
